Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) and other members of the House Freedom Caucus Board of Directors have sent a letter to President Trump, urging continued federal enforcement of immigration laws through Operation Metro Surge and similar efforts across the country.
The letter specifically asks President Trump to maintain immigration enforcement in Minneapolis and throughout the United States. It also encourages him to use all available tools, including the Insurrection Act if necessary, to secure public order for law enforcement activities. The group calls for an end to funding for Sanctuary Cities and requests that the Department of Homeland Security receive full funding.
In their letter, the HFC Board Members wrote: “All Americans have the right to protest – including their right to speech and to bear arms consistent with our laws – but there is no right to thwart federal, state, or local law enforcement and the state of order among our citizens. The coordinated effort to stop law enforcement by politicians in Minnesota and around the country has caused chaos, and led to the tragic deaths of two Americans in Minnesota. It must end.”
The Board Members further stated: “We support you in standing up for the average hardworking American who wants to restore law and order, preserve our nation, defend common sense, and remove the millions of violent criminal illegal aliens endangering our communities.”
Clay Higgins has served as a U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 3rd district since 2017 after succeeding Charles Boustany. He previously held office in the Louisiana House of Representatives. Higgins was born in New Orleans in 1961 and currently resides in Lafayette.
