Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) has introduced H.R. 5581, known as the Uniform Standards Protection Act, in the U.S. House of Representatives. The proposed legislation aims to prevent states and local governments from enforcing their own uniform and gear rules on federal law enforcement officers, including agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The bill comes after California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law banning both federal and local law enforcement from wearing face coverings. Lawmakers in New York have also suggested similar measures.
“Elitist Democrats can whine all they want to about law enforcement, we don’t care, the Thin Blue Line expects the weak to be weak. Liberals who all of a sudden hate masks are the first ones to hide under a table when something goes down, and then they scream for the police. We get that, and we just do our job because we’re TBL. My bill just calmly tells liberal asshats like Gavin Newsom that his authority over federal law enforcement officers is zero,” said Congressman Higgins.
Clay Higgins has served as a member of Congress representing Louisiana’s 3rd district since 2017, after replacing Charles Boustany. He previously held office in the Louisiana House of Representatives and was born in New Orleans in 1961.
