Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) has sent a letter to Danny Hughes, Area President for the Americas at Hilton, seeking clarification on how the company is handling reports that a Hilton hotel near Minneapolis denied service to federal immigration enforcement officers.
“Please provide my office with a written response detailing how Hilton is addressing this matter, including any punitive measures being issued to the independent operator of the hotel in question and the actions being taken to ensure similar incidents do not occur in the future,” said Rep. Higgins.
He further stated: “Hilton doesn’t get to be an international hotel giant employing ‘500,000 team members’ worldwide when it’s convenient for federal government consideration and then hide behind the actions of independent operators when facing scrutiny. My office strongly opposes any corporate policy that would unjustly deny service to DHS and ICE agents. This matter must be addressed and fully clarified swiftly.”
Clay Higgins has represented Louisiana’s 3rd district in Congress since 2017, following his tenure in the Louisiana House of Representatives. He succeeded Charles Boustany and currently resides in Lafayette after being born in New Orleans in 1961.
