Lafayette, LA – In response to the imminent below freezing temperatures approaching again on Friday, Lafayette Consolidated Government is reopening a warming center to provide refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness or who lack adequate heat. Working in coordination with Catholic Charities of Acadiana and other community partners, this collaborative effort works to ensure the safety and well-being of the most vulnerable members of our community during this extreme weather event.

Those needing warm shelter can present at St. Joseph Diner (613 W. Simcoe Street) starting at 3pm on Friday, January 19th to be transported to the prepared LCG warming center, or present in person at the Dupuis Recreation Center at Brown Park (1234 E. Pont Des Mouton Road), beginning at 3pm. Warming centers will remain open until Sunday when temperatures rise above the freezing mark.
