The UL Lafayette Master of Architecture Exhibition showcases Master’s Thesis Projects that are developed in the final graduate studio within the NAAB accredited degree program at the School of Architecture and Design. Each student’s project is an individual investigation into their ideas about what architecture could or should be. Each student works collaboratively with faculty, subject specific consultants, and licensed architects throughout the studio which is the culmination of a year-long investigation beginning each Spring with a research methods seminar. The Master’s Projects you on display are the conclusion of a thorough investigation and an articulation of each students’ emerging position on the potential of our discipline. These projects characterize the broad and diverse grounding of the School of Architecture and the values they believe are essential to guide students into their future careers.

The goals of the Studio are,
• To engage in intense and active learning through research, investigation, and production.
• To advance one’s individual design ability, working to establish connections between the physical, social cultural, and technological environments through the production of architecture.
• To extend knowledge, expand capabilities, maintain record, develop critical thinking, and conduct original research in the production of architecture.
Through the independence, leadership and professional expectations of the studio, it is an opportunity to demonstrate the capacity to both become a member of the architectural profession and to expand the definition of that profession. This terminal thesis project is the threshold where the student becomes a peer.
