Rep. Clay Higgins, a U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 3rd district since 2017, recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing local industry support, civic engagement, and criticism of health organizations.
On August 19, 2025, Higgins expressed support for local businesses, stating: “I stand with Louisiana industry.”
The following day, he commented on his participation in community events: “I’m always honored to address civic groups in South Louisiana.” (August 20, 2025).
On August 21, 2025, Higgins criticized certain health organizations and called for their defunding: “State sponsored weakening of the citizenry, absolute injury to our children and calculated decline of fertility. The New Orleans Health Department … whoever the hell they are… should be 100% defunded, along with the American Academy of Pediatrics. I will immediately pursue”.
Higgins has represented Louisiana’s 3rd District in Congress since succeeding Charles Boustany in 2017 and previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives. Born in New Orleans in 1961 and currently residing in Lafayette at age 61, Higgins continues to engage with both state and national issues as part of his congressional duties.
