35.1% unemployed in Lafayette in 2018

35.1 percent of Lafayette residents between 16 and 65 years old were unemployed in 2018, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The percentage of unemployed residents was less than the statewide total of 40.3 percent for this demographic group. In 2018 the total Lafayette population reached 103,042.

Out of 66,851 people who had a job, 64 were employed in the Armed Forces and 66,787 belonged to the civilian labor force.

The total unemployment numbers include residents of all ages who are not working.
