Of the 671 people living in Mermentau in 2019, 49.5 percent (332) were women and 50.5 percent (339) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Lafayette Reporter.

Females 18 and over outnumbered males in the same age group by a ratio of 226-to-194. In the 65 and over age range, there were 39 females and 54 males.
