5.2% of Lafayette Parish residents considered unemployed in 2021

Lafayette Parish recorded an unemployment rate of 5.2% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 6,508 people out of the 241,173 living in Lafayette Parish at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Lafayette Parish has increased compared to the 5.1% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Lafayette Parish was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 6.7%.

Of the 117,835 people who had a job during that time, 123 were employed in the Armed Forces and 117,712 belonged to the civilian labor force.
