There were 82 American Indian students enrolled in Lafayette Parish School District schools in the 2021-22 school year, 6.5% more than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Data showed that Lafayette Parish School District welcomed 31,587 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.3% of the student body to be the second least represented ethnicity in the district.

Lafayette Parish School District roughly covers schools within Lafayette Parish and has a main office in Lafayette.

Among the 46 schools in Lafayette Parish School District, Broadmoor Elementary School and Ernest Gallet Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 10 students.

The majority of Louisiana students were identified as white and Black, representing 48% and 37% of the state student body respectively during the 2021–22 academic year. Hispanic students made up 8.6% of the student body, and other ethnic minorities made up 5.6%.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
