Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana has announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide $19,236,232 in grants to aid disaster recovery efforts in the state. The funds are designated for communities affected by Hurricane Ida, particularly in Terrebonne and St. James Parishes.

"Hurricane Ida struck southeast Louisiana hard, leaving communities in Terrebonne and St. James Parishes devastated. This $19.2 million will help cover important levee and housing repairs for our state," stated Kennedy.

The FEMA assistance is allocated as follows: $17,992,498 will be directed to the Terrebonne Parish and Conservation District for repairing levees damaged by the hurricane. Additionally, $1,243,734 is earmarked for the St. James Parish Housing Authority to address housing building repairs necessitated by the storm's impact.
