Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) and Acadiana Waste Services (AWS) have announced changes to garbage and recycling collections due to severe weather conditions. AWS has decided not to run any routes through the evening of Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

"Given the unprecedented snow accumulation, dangerous road conditions and hard freeze forecast for this evening, we can't imagine a scenario where our vehicles and employees can safely operate tomorrow," stated AWS President Gus Dugas.

LCG will provide further updates as road conditions improve. They will also finalize collection schedules for the rest of the week based on safe road conditions and operational regional transfer stations and landfills. LCG and AWS are committed to ensuring quick and safe trash removal while expressing gratitude for public patience during this unusual weather situation.
