Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) has announced changes to its operations and scheduled activities due to freezing temperatures affecting the area. The reopening of facilities and resumption of activities will depend on road conditions and facility readiness following the weather event.
City-Parish administrative offices will remain closed until Thursday, January 23, 2025, with a planned reopening on Friday, January 24, 2025, contingent on weather developments.
Acadiana Waste Services (AWS) has suspended garbage and recycling collections for Wednesday, January 22, 2025. The continuation of services is subject to safe travel conditions and the operational status of regional transfer stations and landfills.
All programs at Lafayette's ten recreation centers and two senior centers have been canceled through January 25, 2025. Additionally, Jr. NBA games slated for Saturday, January 25 are canceled but will be rescheduled before the postseason begins. Regular programming is expected to resume by Sunday, January 26, depending on prevailing conditions.
The Dupuis Recreation Center remains open as a warming shelter for those without adequate heating or housing. For details regarding shelter operations or transportation assistance, residents are encouraged to call 211.
Home Ownership Training sessions at The Taylor Center originally scheduled for January 21-22 have been postponed to January 28-29 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.
