Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP), in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), has organized the distribution of bottled water to residents affected by recent extreme weather conditions. This initiative follows disruptions to local water infrastructure.
Two truckloads containing over 1,512 cases of bottled water have been delivered to designated sites in Lafayette Parish. These resources will be available on Thursday, January 23, 2025, with a limit of one case per family. Distribution points include Youngsville Sports Complex starting at 10:00 am, Scott City Hall at 11:00 am, and Carencro Fire Station No. 3 at noon.
Additionally, the Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) has arranged for MACRO Companies to provide two potable water tankers holding 6,000 gallons each. These tankers are stationed at Youngsville Sports Complex and Carencro Fire Station No. 3. Residents must bring their own containers to collect water from these locations and are required to show proof of residency in Lafayette Parish.
Chad Sonnier, Director of Lafayette OHSEP, highlighted the community's resilience and cooperation during challenging times. “This is what we do—we come together in times of need and take care of each other. Lafayette OHSEP will continue to ensure the residents of Lafayette Parish have access to essential resources and we are grateful for the coordinated efforts of local and state partners to make this possible.”
