Lafayette, LA – Due to freezing temperatures and snow last week, the scheduled lane closures for Academy Road and Doucet Road have been postponed. The new schedule for these closures is from January 28 to February 11, 2025. These closures are necessary to carry out sewer infrastructure repairs by a contractor for the Lafayette Utilities System (LUS).
For Academy Road, the northeast bound travel lane in the 100 block will be closed during this period. Motorists traveling northwest on Camellia Boulevard towards Johnston Street will need to detour via Eastland Drive and Rena Drive. Those traveling northeast on Mt. Vernon Drive will also need to follow this detour route.
Similarly, portions of the northwest bound left-turn and through lanes within the 100 block of Doucet Road are set for closure during the same dates. Drivers approaching Johnston Street on Doucet Road will face lane reductions before reaching the work area.
The Lafayette Utilities System has advised residents to exercise caution and anticipate potential delays when navigating these areas.
