Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana has announced the allocation of $2,619,792 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These funds are intended to support emergency protective measures by the Louisiana National Guard and to repair a damaged building in Lafourche Parish.

Kennedy, who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, emphasized the importance of this financial aid for local communities. "Louisiana communities depend on the Louisiana National Guard during disasters. This $2.6 million will help cover costs the Guard sustained during Hurricane Francine and restore a facility in Lafourche Parish that Hurricane Ida damaged," he stated.

The FEMA grants include $1,500,842 directed to the Louisiana Department of Military. This portion will reimburse costs associated with emergency protective actions carried out by the Louisiana National Guard during Hurricane Francine. Additionally, $1,118,950 is allocated to the Greater Lafourche Port Commission. This funding is designated for repairs to the Galliano Main Administrative Office Building which suffered damage from Hurricane Ida.

The announcement highlights ongoing efforts to address infrastructure recovery and disaster preparedness in areas affected by severe weather events.
