Sens. John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy have expressed their approval of President Trump's efforts to bolster energy production in Louisiana. In a letter addressed to the President, the senators praised his administration for reinstating pro-energy policies and recognizing Louisiana's significant role in the nation's energy sector.
The letter highlighted Louisiana's contribution to America's position as a leading exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG). "We are writing to highlight the critical role that Louisiana plays in securing America’s position as the world’s leading liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter," stated Kennedy and Cassidy. They noted that LNG is vital for restoring American energy dominance and emphasized that Louisiana is prepared to boost its supply.
The senators commended President Trump for reversing a pause on non-free trade agreement LNG export permitting on his first day in office. They also appreciated his decision for Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and Energy Secretary Chris Wright to visit a Louisiana LNG facility early in their tenure.
"Louisiana is the backbone of America’s LNG export industry, accounting for more than 60% of all U.S. LNG exports last year," they mentioned, adding that under Trump's leadership, the United States is poised to achieve record-breaking LNG exports.
Kennedy and Cassidy concluded by expressing their eagerness to collaborate with the administration on policies that support growth in the LNG sector. "Ensuring consistent, predictable policies from the administration and Congress will bolster U.S. competitiveness and reinforce our nation’s energy leadership."
