Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana announced an allocation of $8.1 million in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) aimed at addressing disaster recovery efforts in southern Louisiana. The funds are intended to aid in the recovery from the damage caused by Hurricanes Laura and Ida.
According to Kennedy, "Storms like Laura and Ida ravaged key education and transportation infrastructure in Louisiana. The allocated FEMA grants consist of $7,071,039 designated for the Calcasieu Parish School Board to repair the facilities of Barbe High School affected by Hurricane Laura. Additionally, $1,020,441 will be used for repair efforts at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport following the damage it sustained during Hurricane Ida.
