Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, has announced the allocation of $61,833,619 in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants for Louisiana disaster aid. This funding will provide crucial support to the areas affected by Hurricane Ida, including Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Helena Parishes, and New Orleans.

In light of the devastating impact of Hurricane Ida, Sen. Kennedy expressed his gratitude for the $62 million in aid, stating, "Hurricane Ida struck a tough blow to Lafourche, Terrebonne, and St. Helena Parishes, as well as to New Orleans. I'm thankful to see that this $62 million will support Louisianians' recovery efforts."

The breakdown of the FEMA aid includes $50,332,228 allocated to the Lafourche Parish Hospital Service District #1 main hospital facility for damages caused by Hurricane Ida. Additionally, the city of New Orleans will receive $5,018,086 for debris removal operations resulting from the storm. Terrebonne Parish has been granted $4,996,454 for emergency protective measures, and St. Helena Parish will receive $1,486,851 for roadway and culvert repairs.

These funds will play a vital role in addressing the immediate needs of the affected communities, enabling them to rebuild and recover from the destruction caused by the hurricane. The Lafourche Parish Hospital Service District #1 main hospital facility will be able to repair the damages incurred and continue providing essential healthcare services to the community.

The allocation of $5,018,086 to the city of New Orleans will aid in the removal of debris, restoring the city's infrastructure, and ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents. Terrebonne Parish will utilize the granted funds to implement emergency protective measures, safeguarding the population and mitigating future risks. Similarly, St. Helena Parish will allocate the funds towards repairing roadways and culverts, enabling the restoration of transportation infrastructure critical for the community's recovery.

The $62 million in aid secured by Sen. Kennedy demonstrates the commitment of the federal government to support Louisiana in its recovery efforts. As the state continues to rebuild and overcome the challenges posed by Hurricane Ida, this funding will contribute significantly to the restoration and resilience of the affected areas.
