Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, has announced $7,110,058 in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants for Louisiana disaster aid. The funds will help with the recovery efforts following Hurricanes Laura and Ida.

In a statement, Kennedy expressed gratitude for the financial assistance, stating, "South Louisiana is still recovering from Hurricanes Laura and Ida. I'm thankful for this $7.1 million, which will help cover repair costs at McNeese University and in Lafourche Parish."

The FEMA aid will be allocated as follows:

- $2,952,531 will go to the Office of Risk Management at McNeese University for building remediation and temporary roof repairs resulting from Hurricane Laura.

- An additional $2,945,357 will be provided to the Office of Risk Management at McNeese University for building remediation and temporary roof repairs also caused by Hurricane Laura.

- Lafourche Parish Fire Protection District #3 will receive $1,212,170 for building replacement due to the impact of Hurricane Ida.

These funds will enable McNeese University and Lafourche Parish to address the damages caused by the devastating hurricanes, ensuring that necessary repairs and replacements can be carried out.

Hurricane Laura and Hurricane Ida wreaked havoc in Louisiana, causing widespread destruction and leaving communities in urgent need of assistance. The allocation of these FEMA grants is a crucial step towards the recovery and rebuilding process.

With this financial support, McNeese University will be able to undertake building remediation and temporary roof repairs, allowing the institution to resume its important role in education. Similarly, Lafourche Parish Fire Protection District #3 will be able to replace the damaged building, ensuring the continued safety and protection of the community.

The announcement of these grants highlights the ongoing commitment of the federal government to support the affected areas and aid in their recovery. As Louisiana continues to rebuild and recover from the devastating hurricanes, the assistance provided by FEMA and Senator Kennedy will prove instrumental in restoring normalcy and resilience to the region.

Through these efforts, communities in South Louisiana can move forward with confidence, knowing that they have the necessary support to rebuild and overcome the challenges brought by the destructive forces of nature.
