Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) has announced a significant contract awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for the repair of a NASA facility in Louisiana. The $108,281,936 contract aims to restore the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Michoud Assembly Facility Building 103, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Ida.

"Hurricane Ida ripped through south Louisiana, leaving many buildings with significant damage. I’m grateful that this $108.3 million will help repair New Orleans' NASA facility so that our scientists and rocket builders can continue their important work," said Kennedy.

The NASA facility in question plays a crucial role in the Artemis program, which is NASA's mission to bring humans back to the moon by 2025. The repairs will focus on replacing the damaged roof of Building 103, which serves as a construction site for the program.

This contract comes as a relief for the NASA community, as it ensures the continuity of vital operations and progress towards the ambitious goal of returning to the moon.
