On February 8, various agencies were invited to the relaunch meeting, including Lafayette Consolidated Government, Lafayette Sheriff's Office, Lafayette Police Department, 15th Judicial District Court, and many others. The participation of these agencies highlights the commitment to collaboration and finding evidence-based solutions to improve the criminal justice system.

Mayor-President Monique Blanco Boulet expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, "Today marks a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to ensuring a fair and effective criminal justice system for all residents of Lafayette Parish. The Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee will serve as a vital platform for collaboration, enabling us to identify challenges, implement evidence-based solutions, and ultimately enhance public safety and trust."

Sheriff Mark Garber echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of continuously evaluating and improving the systems that uphold justice. He stated, "As stewards of public safety, it is incumbent upon us to continuously evaluate and improve the systems we rely on to uphold justice. The establishment of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee underscores our collective dedication to fostering innovation and accountability within our criminal justice system."

The relaunch of the CJCC signifies a commitment to streamlining processes, reducing recidivism, and promoting fairness and equity in the administration of justice in Lafayette Parish. By working together and leveraging existing resources, the committee aims to make significant improvements in the criminal justice system.

With the CJCC's focus on collaboration, data-driven solutions, and community involvement, Lafayette Parish is taking a proactive approach to address the challenges in its criminal justice system. This relaunch marks an important milestone in the pursuit of a fair, just, and efficient criminal justice system for all residents.
