Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, revealed today a significant development in the recovery efforts following Hurricane Ida's impact on south Louisiana. The announcement pertains to a $1,908,608 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant allocated for Louisiana disaster aid.

"Hurricane Ida dealt a tough blow to south Louisiana’s electrical infrastructure. I’m grateful to see this $1.9 million help rebuild the roads that support these communities," expressed Senator Kennedy.

The FEMA aid is designated to assist the South Louisiana Electrical Cooperative Association in rebuilding two substation access roadways that suffered damage due to Hurricane Ida and the subsequent emergency procedures.

This funding injection aims to contribute to the restoration of essential infrastructure in the affected areas, particularly focusing on enhancing the reliability and functionality of the region's electrical systems.
