Lafayette police chief Judith Estorge resigns, to remain in department

Lafayette Consolidated Government and the Lafayette Police Department have announced that Chief Judith Estorge will be stepping down from her position as Chief of Police for personal reasons, effective May 28, 2024. Despite resigning from her chief position, Estorge will continue to serve within the department, leveraging her extensive experience and knowledge in a new role.

Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet expressed her gratitude for Chief Estorge's service, stating, "Chief Estorge's leadership has made a lasting impact, providing stability in the department. We are grateful for her dedication as she will continue to serve within LPD."

The Interim Chief of Police will be named on May 28, 2024.
