Tammy Luke appointed as director of community development & planning

Lafayette, LA – Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet has announced the appointment of Tammy Luke as the new Director of Community Development & Planning. Tammy brings extensive experience and a proven track record in development, having served as the Director of Planning & Zoning for St. Mary Parish since February 2010, among other planning roles. She is a Certified Building Official (CBO) and has held various positions within the Building Officials Association of Louisiana, including board member, President-Elect, President, and Past-President.
During her tenure with St. Mary Parish, Tammy coordinated internal efforts across departments to ensure successful program execution. Her role involved maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to planning activities, facilitating collaborative decision-making processes among stakeholders from multiple sectors, and monitoring progress against established benchmarks with timely updates to the leadership team.
Tammy’s expertise includes understanding economic and legal issues involved in zoning codes, building codes, and environmental regulations. She has supervised and coordinated the work of planning technicians and technologists, recommended approvals or denials of proposals, and maintained maps and databases.
Her experience also covers conducting interviews, surveys, and site inspections concerning zoning, traffic flow, and housing; preparing files and records of land use data; and providing mentorship to a team of planners on policy formulation for senior management.
In her new role at Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG), Tammy will leverage her background to enhance business performance and drive LCG's objectives. Known for her resourcefulness and results-driven approach, she is expected to contribute significantly to meeting community needs.

Tammy Luke will assume her role effective June 3, 2024.
