Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG)’s Public Works Department has announced the closure of Canberra Road, approximately 0.40 miles east of Johnston Street, starting July 8, 2024. This closure is expected to last for approximately eight months to allow crews to remove and replace the existing bridge along with associated roadway, drainage, and water lines.

Detour routes will be available to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, and local access will be maintained throughout the closure period. The designated detour routes include Pontalba Drive, Crestlawn Drive, Bluerose Lane, and Asphodel Lane.
