Ava LeJeune, a Lafayette resident and member of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart parish, said Vice President Kamala Harris' recent remarks about young people reveal her "inability to lead" the country.

“As a 22-year-old, I feel quite attacked by Kamala Harris’s comments about myself and my peers,” LeJeune said. “It shows her inability to lead not only people my age but America as a whole. A good leader knows how to build up and motivate every person and unite them in a cause."

"I look at my peers and I see their motivation, commitment, and ability to make the future of America a better place," she said. "My peers inspire me. But if Kamala Harris will never see this potential and continues to reduce us to being ‘stupid’ and needing ‘hand-holding,’ no young person will ever live up to the excellence that they are capable of.”

A video of Kamala Harris speaking about college students has recently gone viral. In this public address, Harris states, “What else do we know about this population, eighteen through twenty-four? They are stupid!”

“That is why we put them in dormitories and they have a resident assistant,” Harris continued on. “They make really bad decisions.”

Vice President Kamala Harris was endorsed by President Joe Biden when he announced he was dropping out of the Presidential race on July 21. She is now endorsed by many political leaders within the democratic party to be the presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Race.

The Democratic party is known for being a party that wants to help young adults; they push student loan forgiveness, feminism, and so-called equal opportunity. An April poll from Harvard University showed 18-29 year old favoring the Democrat party over Republican party 45% to 37%.

Kamala Harris, the first female Vice President, claims to be a person who “always fights for the people” does not seem to value the young adults entering the workforce in our country. Before being elected as Vice President, Harris served as the District Attorney of San Francisco, the Attorney General of California, and as a U.S. Senator from California.
