Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana announced a significant allocation of federal funds to aid disaster recovery efforts in the state. The $20,217,180 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be directed towards rebuilding initiatives in south Louisiana, areas that were heavily impacted by Hurricanes Laura and Ida.

"Louisianians in Grand Isle, Lake Charles and Tangipahoa Parish have been working hard to rebuild after devastating storms. This $20.2 million will help our south Louisiana communities repair important projects and facilities after Hurricanes Laura and Ida battered our state," stated Kennedy.

The funding will support several key projects:

- The Office of Risk Management will receive $10,424,561 for repairs to the West Grand Terre Beach project in Grand Isle, which suffered damage during Hurricane Ida.

- An additional $5,226,646 will be allocated to the Office of Risk Management for repairs at Southeastern Louisiana University's Turtle Cove complex facilities affected by Hurricane Ida.

- Lake Charles is set to receive $4,565,973 for repairs to wastewater treatment plant facilities damaged by Hurricane Laura.

These funds are part of ongoing efforts to restore essential infrastructure and support community recovery following the severe weather events.
