Lafayette Transit, Trash, and Compost Holiday Schedule

Lafayette, LA - The Lafayette Transit System has announced its holiday schedule for the upcoming festive season. On Saturday, December 23, the day service will run until 3:00 p.m., while the Night Owl service will operate from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Paratransit service will also be available until 8:30 p.m.

However, on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, and Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, both the buses and paratransit services will not be running. The same applies to New Year's Eve, Sunday, December 31, and New Year's Day, Monday, January 1.

Residents are advised to take note of these changes and plan their travel accordingly. For further information on the Lafayette Transit System, including rates, routes, and Paratransit service, visit www.ridelts.com.

In addition to the transit system, the trash and compost collection schedule will also be affected by the holidays. AWS, the waste collection service, will not operate on Christmas or New Year's Day. Therefore, collection dates will be pushed back by a day for all residents.

Furthermore, residents can dispose of excess holiday waste by bagging it and placing it neatly by their carts. As for Christmas trees, they can be placed at the curb on the regular collection date for pickup.

The Compost Facility will also observe holiday closures. On Friday, December 22, it will close at 11 a.m. and reopen on Tuesday, December 26, due to the Christmas holiday. It will then be closed again from Saturday, December 30, through Monday, January 1, and will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, because of the New Year's holiday.

This holiday schedule aims to ensure that the transit system and waste collection services can effectively manage the festive period. Residents are encouraged to be aware of the changes and adjust their plans accordingly.
