Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) has announced the reopening of the E. Lewis Street bridge located on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus. The bridge crosses Coulee Mine and has undergone several repairs to enhance its structure and functionality.

The repair work included strengthening and painting the steel girders in Vermilion Red, patching concrete, constructing new drainage catch basins, building ADA-compliant sidewalk slopes leading up to the bridge, and sealing and coating the deck.

In addition to these improvements, an epoxy-urethane coating will be applied soon to seal the deck and add a friction course. Any closures related to this final step will be scheduled for weekends to minimize disruption to local traffic.
