Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana has announced a substantial financial aid package to support recovery efforts following Hurricane Laura. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Kennedy revealed that $5,781,660 in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants have been allocated for disaster aid in Louisiana.

"Hurricane Laura struck our communities hard and damaged our electrical systems. This $5.8 million will help cover Jefferson Davis Electric’s emergency response," said Kennedy.

The FEMA grant is specifically directed towards the Jefferson Davis Electric Cooperative, Inc., covering management costs incurred due to the hurricane's impact.
