Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) is urging residents to report home damage from recent flash flooding. This follows the activation of an online reporting tool by the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP). The tool, available at Damage.LA.Gov, allows homeowners to self-report property damage caused by significant weather events such as floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes.

Residents are encouraged to use the portal to provide details about their home's location and the severity of any damage. This information will aid local, state, and federal agencies in assessing impacts and speeding up recovery efforts. However, OHSEP reminds homeowners that filing a report does not ensure federal assistance. Homeowners should also file claims with their insurance providers.

OHSEP advises taking detailed photographs of any damage for both reporting purposes and insurance claims.

For further details or to submit a report, residents can visit damage.la.gov.
