Kennedy announces FEMA aid for hurricane recovery in Louisiana

Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana has announced that the state will receive $13,491,124 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for disaster aid. This funding aims to assist communities affected by Hurricanes Laura and Ida.

“Hurricanes Laura and Ida left south Louisiana with bad damage. This $13.5 million will help our communities rebuild and recover,” said Kennedy.

The FEMA grants are allocated as follows:

- $6,509,261 is designated for the Louisiana Children’s Medical Center to address damage at East Jefferson General Hospital caused by Hurricane Ida.

- The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury will receive $3,262,494 for office building repairs due to Hurricane Laura.

- The Office of Risk Management is set to obtain $1,312,837 for repairing damage from Hurricane Ida to the Barataria Landbridge Shoreline Protection Project.

- Lafourche Parish Fire District 3 is allocated $1,270,732 for repairs at the Central Fire Station headquarters building after Hurricane Ida.

- An additional $1,135,800 is provided to the Office of Risk Management for marsh habitat repairs following Hurricane Ida.

This funding reflects ongoing efforts to support recovery and rebuilding in areas heavily impacted by these hurricanes.
