Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana has reached out to the Defense Intelligence Agency's Inspector General, Jeremy Kirkland, with inquiries concerning the National Center for Medical Intelligence's (NCMI) investigation into the origins of Covid-19. Kennedy is seeking clarification on whether the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) found that NCMI included its study results in briefings for the president and policymakers.

"In May of 2020 NCMI’s research into Covid-19’s origins was outlined in a working paper from NCMI scientists Commander Jean-Paul Chretien and Dr. Greg Cutlip. This working paper concluded that there was insufficient evidence to discount Covid-19’s creation in a laboratory," Kennedy stated.

Kennedy further noted, "However, recent reporting has stated that NCMI’s research was not included in reports given to President Biden. The same reporting stated that Inspector General’s office opened an inquiry to determine whether NCMI’s conclusion was mishandled or suppressed. The results of this inquiry have not been made public."

He emphasized the importance of accurate intelligence dissemination by stating, "Given the pandemic’s implications for public health, national security, and global stability[,] it is imperative to ensure all pertinent intelligence was accurately conveyed to senior policy makers. This OIG inquiry is critical in making this determination."

Kennedy has requested information from the OIG regarding whether their investigation into how NCMI handled its study has been completed and if any findings indicating Covid-19's manipulation in a laboratory were mismanaged or withheld from President Biden or other decision-makers.
