Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.2 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Louisiana residents paid $9,912 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $24 more than the $9,888 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 138.5 percent more than residents this year, or $23,640. Their price tag grew 0.1 percent from $23,616 in 2017-18.

About 94 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Louisiana residents. About 4 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 96 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,765 students received grants or scholarships totaling $26.5 million and 1,463 students took out student loans totaling more than $8.9 million.

Including all undergraduates (17,123), 10,854 students used grants or scholarships totaling $92.2 million, and 7,178 students took out $45.3 million in federal student loans.
