Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana has announced the allocation of $3,568,827 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to aid disaster recovery efforts in the state. These funds are intended to assist communities affected by Hurricanes Laura, Delta, and Ida.

Kennedy, who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, emphasized the significance of this financial support: “Hurricanes Laura, Delta and Ida damaged many facilities across south Louisiana, including educational buildings and churches. This $3.6 million will help communities rebuild and recover from some of the high costs sustained during these storms.”

The FEMA grants are designated for specific projects within Louisiana:

- The Society of the Roman Catholic Church of the Diocese of Lafayette will receive $1,312,778 for restoring St. Francis Mission Chapel after damage from Hurricane Laura.

- The Office of Risk Management is set to obtain $1,202,044 to repair various state educational facilities and courthouse structures impacted by Hurricane Delta.

- The Greater Lafourche Port Commission will be allocated $1,054,005 for emergency protective measures undertaken during Hurricane Ida.

These funds aim to facilitate ongoing recovery efforts in regions heavily impacted by these natural disasters.
