Lafayette, LA – The Serenity Drive Bridge will be closed starting today at 2:00 p.m., as announced by the Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Traffic, Roads, and Bridges Department. This closure comes after the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) determined that urgent repairs are necessary.

The bridge, situated about 0.30 miles west of Bonin Road, is set to be replaced with a box culvert. The closure is expected to last for approximately one year.

Efforts are being made to ensure local access remains available during this period to reduce disruptions in daily travel. Residents living east of the bridge can use Bonin Road for access, while those north of the bridge have an alternative route through Hunter’s Run connecting to Serenity Drive via Chemin Metairie Road.

Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and exercise caution when traveling in the area. Updates on the project's progress will be provided as needed.
