Senator John Kennedy, a Republican from Louisiana and member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, has introduced a Senate bill to eliminate federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). This legislative effort is part of the No Propaganda Act, which aims to defund CPB due to alleged bias in its content.

"The Corporation for Public Broadcasting refuses to provide Louisianians and Americans with fair, unbiased content. It wastes taxpayer dollars on slanted coverage to advance a leftist political agenda. The No Propaganda Act would save taxpayer money by putting an end to Big Brother’s propaganda outlet," stated Kennedy.

The CPB has received more than $15 billion from Congress, distributing these funds primarily to National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). According to CPB, its mission is "to educate, inform, foster curiosity, and promote civil discourse essential to American society." However, criticism arose in April when a whistleblower claimed NPR chose not to report on the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 election cycle because it could have benefited then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Further scrutiny was directed at PBS in 2020 following reports that it used taxpayer funds in collaboration with CGTN—a media outlet controlled by the Chinese Communist Party—to create a film portraying Beijing favorably.

In addition to Kennedy's actions in the Senate, Representative Scott Perry from Pennsylvania introduced a similar bill in the House of Representatives. Perry commented on this initiative: "The American Taxpayer is footing the bill for a woke media corporation that pretends to be impartial while pushing Chinese propaganda. CPB cannot be allowed to keep using your hard-earned tax dollars to push a biased and political agenda that goes against what’s best for Americans."
