In an op-ed published in The New York Post, Senator John Kennedy, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, raised concerns about the crisis at the southern border becoming a tool for cartels and other groups wishing to harm the American people. Kennedy called on President Biden to provide the necessary resources to secure the border.

Kennedy highlighted the consequences of the Biden administration's "willful incompetence" at the border, stating that it not only led to a human rights disaster but also provided cover for terrorist sympathizers, child sex offenders, and cartel associates to enter the United States illegally. He emphasized the urgent need for legislative solutions to address the situation.

The senator pointed out alarming statistics, stating that Border Patrol apprehended 169 individuals from the FBI's terrorist watchlist attempting to cross the southern border illegally in fiscal year 2023 alone. This number is more than ten times the figure for the four years prior to President Biden taking office.

Kennedy explained that individuals end up on the FBI's watchlist by associating with groups that harbor hatred towards America, its values, and its people. He expressed concern that these terrorist sympathizers can easily blend into the masses at the border undetected.

According to Kennedy, the Biden administration has made the southern border a magnet for terrorists, calling it a "national embarrassment" and the biggest national security threat facing the country. He criticized President Biden for disregarding the problem and urged Democrats to enforce the law and provide the necessary tools to secure the border.

Highlighting the seriousness of the issue, Kennedy mentioned that the FBI Director himself recently warned about the southern border posing a major threat to homeland security. He expressed hope that this acknowledgement would prompt President Biden to treat the border as the significant threat it is.

In conclusion, Kennedy called for bipartisan action, with Republicans and Democrats coming together to address the border crisis effectively. He urged President Biden to take the issue seriously and provide the resources needed to secure the border, emphasizing the importance of protecting national security.
