LAFAYETTE CONSOLIDATED GOVERNMENT TO REOPEN WARMING CENTER FOR VULNERABLE RESIDENTS IN ADVANCE OF ARCTIC FRONT

Lafayette Consolidated Government announced today that they will be reopening a warming center in response to the upcoming below freezing temperatures. The center will provide refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness or those who lack adequate heat. This collaborative effort, in coordination with Catholic Charities of Acadiana and other community partners, aims to ensure the safety and well-being of the most vulnerable members of the community during this extreme weather event.

According to Lafayette Consolidated Government, those in need of warm shelter can present themselves at either St. Joseph Diner or the Dupuis Recreation Center at Brown Park. The warming centers will be open starting from 3pm on Friday, January 19th. Individuals will be transported from St. Joseph Diner to the prepared LCG warming center, while others can present themselves in person at the Dupuis Recreation Center. The warming centers will remain open until Sunday when temperatures are expected to rise above the freezing mark.

"We are committed to providing a safe and warm environment for those in need during this arctic front," said a representative from Lafayette Consolidated Government. "By working together with Catholic Charities of Acadiana and our community partners, we can ensure that the most vulnerable members of our community have a place to seek shelter and stay warm."

This initiative comes as a response to the impending arctic front that is expected to bring dangerously low temperatures to the area once again. With these extreme weather conditions, it is crucial to prioritize the well-being of individuals who may not have access to adequate heating or shelter.

"Catholic Charities of Acadiana is dedicated to serving those in need, especially during times of extreme weather," said a spokesperson from Catholic Charities of Acadiana. "By collaborating with Lafayette Consolidated Government and other community partners, we can make a significant impact in ensuring the safety and comfort of vulnerable residents."

The reopening of the warming center demonstrates the commitment of Lafayette Consolidated Government and its partners to providing assistance and support to those facing homelessness or inadequate heating during this challenging time. It serves as a reminder of the importance of community collaboration in addressing the needs of the most vulnerable members of society.

As the freezing temperatures approach, the Lafayette Consolidated Government urges individuals in need of warm shelter to take advantage of this resource and seek assistance at the designated locations. By coming together as a community, we can ensure that no one is left out in the cold during this arctic front.
