Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Fire Department is investigating an aircraft crash that occurred at approximately 11:37 am near Oakbourne Country Club and the 3700 Block of E Simcoe Street. The preliminary investigation indicates that a small, private aircraft crashed upon takeoff. One confirmed occupant inside the aircraft was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators with the Lafayette Fire Department are on-site, and the investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
