Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Consolidated Government's Traffic, Roads, and Bridges Department has announced an extension to the lane closure in the 1100 block of Johnston Street. Initially set to end on December 20, 2024, the closure will now continue until January 31, 2025.

This extension is necessary for ongoing work on the Downtown Drainage Inlet Replacement Project. Southern Constructors are responsible for improving the drainage catch basin in this area.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution while traveling through this zone. Delays should be anticipated, and alternative routes are recommended when possible.

The original closure began on December 2, 2024. It involves the southbound exterior lane and shoulder just north of University Avenue.
