There were 2,197 ninth grade students enrolled in Lafayette Parish schools in the 2021-22 school year, 6.1% more than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Acadiana High School welcomed the most ninth grade students in the parish.

Within Lafayette Parish schools, the most students were found in first grade classes, while 12th grade classes were the smallest.

Statewide, Lafayette Parish ranked 6th highest in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 7th highest the year before.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
