Due to the forecast of icy winter weather, the Lafayette Parish Council and Lafayette City Council have canceled their scheduled meetings on January 21, 2025. The meetings were set for 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively. The decision was made to ensure the safety of council staff, members, LCG employees, and the public.

The council chairs emphasized that there are no urgent items on the agenda requiring immediate attention. "The ultimate well-being and safety of our council staff, the council members, LCG employees and our general public is critically important," they stated. The cancellation allows everyone involved to prepare for the expected weather conditions.

Furthermore, several partner organizations have also announced closures due to potential hazardous travel conditions. This could affect access to necessary services for conducting council business.

The consideration of agenda items will be rescheduled for a later date. Details regarding new meeting arrangements will be communicated once finalized.
